FIFA 2001 aims to immerse its fans with the most realistic football experience possible. Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (known as World Soccer: Winning Eleven 6 in Japan and World Soccer: Winning Eleven 6 International in North America) is the second instalment of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer football video game series. The Japanese version was succeeded by the updated World Soccer: Winning Eleven 6 Final Evolution. It was the last game of the series released in Europe for PlayStation and the only game released for the Nintendo Gamecube, though it was the Final Evolution update and in Japan only.

It was the last NFL 2K game to be released before Electronic Arts (EA) signed an exclusive rights agreement with the National Football League (NFL) to make 2K's rival Madden NFL series the only officially licensed NFL game and was also the last game still being developed by Sega.
